Week 7 EQ and Journal: Slab Projects/ Comparison
Notes must be in Cornell notes format with 2-3 questions in left column, vocabulary highlighted and respond to the EQ with a 5 complete sentence summary.

- Work as a table group discussing the question and answers
- Define 12 (similarities/differences
- Students will write their 5 sentence summary individually at the end of the week.
Below are some of the similarities and differences students pointed out:
Similarities:
- All three projects are made using templates (paper patterns).
- All three projects require a slab rolled out with canvas and rulers to ensure even thickness
- They all have a textures and patterns applied to the surfaces
- All project pieces need to be slipped, scored and blended accordingly
- The cup and box have pressed patterns along the seams
- all projects should be cleaned with a sponge to remove rough edges before firing
Differences
- For the slab bowl, the students design their own template shape and design.
- The slab for the cup may be thinner than the other two projects, to make it light weight and better for drinking out of.
- the bowl is made using a hump mold
- The cup is the only project with a pressed seam which is only blended on the inside
- the cup and the box both had handles
- the slab bowl does not have to be leather hard before adding the coil foot
