Week 5 Journal & EQ: Slab Project 1- Coasters Set
Notes must be in Cornell notes format with 2-3 questions in left column, vocabulary highlighted and respond to the EQ with a 5 complete sentence summary.

EQ 5: What knowledge is needed to make a successful slab project?
- Create a flat slab using rulers.
- Roll on canvas using rulers/ wood slats to ensure even thickness
- DO NOT cut clay on tables. Cut on canvas or wooden bats
- Clean top and bottom edges (smooth all rough edges) and keep flat
- Clay has MEMORY and will bend back as it dries. Keep your slabs flat.
- Slabs need to be LEATHER HARD before scoring, slipping and blending
- First and Last name, and period need to be on the bottom of every piece
- All edges (including bottom) need to be cleaned with a damp sponge- NO SHARP EDGES
- All parts should be stacked and dried together
- Project needs to be checked by teacher and marked in the grade book, BEFORE placing on period shelf to dry
- SAVE your plastic bag for next project in class supply cabinet.
